About This Tour

The Rio Negro Hot Springs and Oropendola Waterfall Tour is a relaxing half-day experience near Rincón de la Vieja, combining volcanic thermal pools, a natural mud bath, tropical forest scenery, a refreshing waterfall and a traditional Costa Rican lunch.

Your day begins with private pickup from your hotel, resort or vacation rental in selected Guanacaste areas. Travel in a comfortable air-conditioned vehicle toward Hacienda Guachipelín, located near Rincón de la Vieja National Park in the Liberia area.

Upon arrival, guests visit the Rio Negro Hot Springs, a peaceful riverside area surrounded by tropical dry forest. The thermal water is naturally heated by volcanic activity and flows into a series of mineral-rich pools built along the riverbank.

Guests can relax in the hot spring pools, cross the suspension bridges and enjoy the forest setting along the Rio Negro. The experience also includes volcanic mud, which can be applied as a natural body mask before rinsing off and returning to the warm pools.

The tour also includes a visit to La Oropendola Waterfall, one of the most beautiful waterfalls in the Rincón de la Vieja area. A short walk leads to the waterfall, where water drops into a turquoise natural pool surrounded by canyon walls and tropical vegetation.

When weather and local conditions permit, guests may swim or relax near the waterfall before continuing with the rest of the experience. A traditional Costa Rican lunch is included during the day.

This tour is ideal for couples, families, seniors and travelers looking for a softer Guanacaste experience with nature, relaxation and beautiful scenery without a full adventure itinerary.
