About This Tour
The Arenal Canyoning and Rafting Combo Tour is a full-day adventure experience near La Fortuna, combining rainforest canyoning, waterfall rappelling, zip lines and whitewater rafting on the Balsa River.
The experience begins with pickup from selected La Fortuna and Arenal area hotels. Travel to Maquique Adventure, located about 15 to 18 minutes from La Fortuna, where the professional guides welcome the group and provide the required safety equipment.
The first part of the day focuses on canyoning and waterfall rappelling. After a safety briefing, follow the guides into a rainforest canyon surrounded by tropical vegetation, natural rock formations and flowing water.
The canyoning route includes five rappels, three of them descending through waterfalls, plus two zip lines surrounded by rainforest scenery. The final descent features an impressive waterfall of approximately 60 meters, making this one of the most memorable moments of the tour.
After completing the canyoning adventure, continue with the rafting portion on the Balsa River. This river section includes Class II and III rapids, offering a fun and exciting experience suitable for active beginners and families who meet the operator’s requirements.
During the rafting trip, paddle through a mix of rapids and calmer sections while enjoying rainforest views. Depending on the day, guests may see birds, monkeys or other wildlife along the riverbanks, although sightings cannot be guaranteed.
The Arenal Canyoning and Rafting Combo Tour includes professional bilingual guides, safety equipment, fresh fruit, drinks and a traditional Costa Rican lunch. After changing into dry clothes, return transportation is provided to your hotel or vacation rental.
This combo is recommended for active travelers who are comfortable with heights, water activities and moderate physical effort. It is not recommended for pregnant guests, non-swimmers, or travelers with serious back, neck, heart, mobility or recent-surgery concerns.
