About This Tour

The Costa Rica Sloth and Waterfall Tour is a full-day wildlife and nature experience designed for travelers who want to see a greener side of Costa Rica beyond the Guanacaste beaches.

Your day begins with private pickup from your hotel, resort or vacation rental. Travel in a comfortable air-conditioned vehicle toward the Bijagua rainforest area, located between the Tenorio and Miravalles volcanic regions.

Upon arrival, join a guided nature walk through tropical rainforest habitat known for sloths, birds, frogs, lizards and other wildlife. Your bilingual guide will help search the treetops for two-toed and three-toed sloths while explaining their behavior, diet and role in the forest ecosystem.

The experience focuses on responsible wildlife observation. The sloths live freely in their natural habitat, so sightings may vary according to weather, time of day and animal movement. Touching, feeding or disturbing wildlife is not part of the tour.

After the rainforest walk, continue to a local restaurant for a traditional Costa Rican lunch. The Bijagua area is known for its rural scenery, mountain views and proximity to Tenorio Volcano National Park.

The tour continues with a visit to Llanos del Cortés Waterfall, one of Guanacaste’s most recognizable waterfalls. A short trail leads to a wide cascade, sandy riverbank and natural pool surrounded by tropical vegetation.

When weather and local conditions permit, guests may swim in the designated area or relax near the waterfall before returning to their hotel by private transportation.

This tour is recommended for families, couples, seniors, photographers and nature lovers looking for an easy rainforest experience with wildlife, local culture and a waterfall stop.
